Hit-and-run accident in Jaipur: Lecturer killed

The Scorpio car was running at the speed of at least 120 km per hour and lost balance. It first rammed into a bike and then hit a food cart. The driver then sped away from the spot.

Jaipur: An over-speeding SUV went out of control and mowed down a biker at Muhana Road on Sunday evening. The man on the bike was a 34-year-old lecturer at a private university in Chaksu, identified as Sudhir Vaishnav. Two others were injured in the road accident. They are undergoing treatment at a hospital.

The Scorpio car was running at the speed of at least 120 km per hour and lost balance. It first rammed into a bike and then hit a food cart. The driver then sped away from the spot.

The entire incident was caught on a CCTV installed on a nearby building. The police have obtained the video and are trying to identify the car on the basis of the CCTV footages.

The incident occurred around 3 pm outside Narayana Motors. The car was at such a high speed that it created panic among the pedestrians and venders. Sudhir, a native of Ajmer, was on his bike with his friend Laxman Choudhary. While Sudhir died on the spot, Laxman Choudhary and a vender were injured. Both are undergoing treatment at a hospital.

The police have registered an FIR against the unidentified car driver.

“We are studying CCTV footages in order to identify the car involved in the road accident. It is quite obvious that the man was overspeeding and driving rashly. Investigation is going on,” said a police officer.
