Highway blocked over suspicious death of girl nursing student

Jaipur: The family members and local residents blocked Bikaner highway in connection with the suspicious death of a nursing college student in Nagaur. The people demanded that a case of murder be registered against the owner of the college. The girl was found hanging on Friday. It is suspected that a youth was harassing her. The police was earlier treating the case as a suicide, but later registered an FIR against the nursing college owner under IPC sections pertaining to murder.

The people first staged a sit-in outside JLN Hospital where the body of the girl was being kept for a post-mortem examination. When the administration didn’t pay heed to their demand, the people on Saturday blocked the Bikaner highway for nearly two hours. Senior police officers tried to placate the agitators, but no to no avail. They finally agreed to clear the road when the police registered a case of murder against the college owner. The girl was a first year nursing student at the college.

Member of Parliament Hanuman Beliwal will visit the family of the victim on Sunday. He said that the case should be investigated by the CBI and the accused should be brought to book quickly.

“The rising cases of suicide in educational institutions are a matter of concern,” Beniwal said.
