Jaipur: The high-tech parking facility at Chaugan Stadium will be thrown open for public next month. This will be one of the biggest projects to be unveiled in Jaipur since the Congress government came to power. The decision to unveil the parking next month was taken during a meeting of Smart City Project official with chief whip in the assembly Mahesh Joshi on Saturday.

The facility will ease the problem of the parking in the crowded Walled City area, the officials said. Chief minister Ashok Gehlot along with senior Congress leaders will inaugurate the facility, they added.

“The Chaugan Stadium parking will be start-of-art. The Walled City has been recognized as the World Heritage Site. It will be easier for the city residents and tourists to park their vehicle and go shopping and visit various historical monuments of the old city,” said Dr Mahesh Joshi.

“A proposal has also been mooted to develop a world-class football field in Chaugan Stadium. Earlier, it was proposed that both football and hockey stadiums should be constructed here, but instead of two smaller sports ground, we have proposed that a world-class football stadium should be built,” said a senior official.

Mahesh Joshi told media persons that a three-storey sports complex will also be built at the stadium. The tenders will be issued for the work soon. In the complex, there will be courts for kabbadi, badminton and some other indoor sports.
