Heritage Mayor Munesh Gurjar suspended after husband’s arrest
The suspension follows the arrest of her husband, Sushil Gurjar, by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB)
JAIPUR: The Rajasthan government has suspended the Mayor of Jaipur Heritage Municipal Corporation, Munesh Gurjar following the arrest of her husband, Sushil Gurjar, by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on charges of accepting a bribe amounting to Rs 2 lakh. The suspension order was issued late on Saturday.
The former Additional Commissioner of the Municipal Corporation, Rajendra Verma, had earlier lodged an FIR against Munesh Gurjar.
Minister Pratap Singh Khachariawas expressed his dissatisfaction with Mayor Munesh Gurjar’s performance. he said that “I had raised concerns about Munesh Gurjar’s conduct. I advised MLA Rafiq Khan and Amin Kagzi, and conveyed my sentiments to Congress in-charge Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa, Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, and PCC Chief Govind Singh Dotasara. I recommended her removal.”
Khachariawas said that the ACB team meticulously examined this matter for six months.
“I extend my gratitude to Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot and the ACB team. This sends a clear message that those involved in any wrongdoing will be held accountable,” he told media persons.
To combat corruption, Khachariawas said that people should utilize the designated ACB helpline. “People should report corruption complains via the helpline, 1064,” he said.
