Heavy rains lashed Jaipur on Monday.

Jaipur: Heavy rains lashed most parts of Jaipur on the last day of Shravan month. Jaipurites woke up to pleasant weather. While high humidity levels were reported on Sunday night, the temperature dropped as it started raining early in the morning.

Water clogging was reported throughout the city. The plans of many women who wanted to visit their brothers on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan were disrupted due to heavy rains. However, they ventured out as the rains slowed down by 10.30 am.

According to the Met department, the temperature will increase in the next 48 hours. Moderate rains may be reported in eastern Rajasthan, while the weather will be dry in western Rajasthan.

As the temperature dropped and the weather became pleasant, many Jaipurites are planning to head to the picnic spots on the city outskirts.

“It was dark in our area till 9 am. It’s been a long time since the weather has been so pleasant. Since it’s Raksha Bandhan – a holiday, we are planning to go to Nahargarh with family,” said Manoj Yadav, a resident of Sodala area.

Many are heading to hilly areas on the city outskirts including Samod.

Met department officials said that the monsoon will become active again from August 5, particularly in eastern Rajasthan.

Authorities warned that the people should exercise caution when they go out for picnic and follow social distancing guidelines in the wake of COVID-19 spread.
