Jaipur: Dausa MP and former DGP Harish Chandra Meena may contest the Rajasthan assembly elections 2018 from Mahwa constituency in Dausa district on a Congress ticket. Sources said that elder brother Namo Narayan Meena wants to contest the election from Deoli-Uniara seat.

Harish Meena had contested and won the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, defeating his older brother Namo Narayan Meena. He had stepped down as the DGP to fight the election. Namo Narayan Meena was already in Congress, so the BJP pitted Harish Meena against his brother.

Harish Meena has influence over Meena community voters in Sawai Madhopur, Karauli, Hindaun city, Gangapur, and Mahwa areas. The Congress may field him from the Dausa district, sources said.
Both the brothers, Namo Narayan, and Harish Chandra Meena - will fight the elections as the Congress candidates this time.
Sources said that Hari Meena was not happy ever since Kirori Lal Meena joined the BJP.
In the year 2019, CM Vasundhara Raje gave orders to shift Meena from DGP designation to DG jail. Hari Meena served as DGP of Rajasthan from March 2009 to December 2013 which is recorded to be the longest tenure of a DGP in Rajasthan. After this, Meena joined BJP and won from Dausa seat.
Namo Narayan Meena became MP from the Sawai Madhopur seat in 2003. He won the election again in 2009 elections. After this, he contested Lok Sabha elections from Dausa constituency for 2014 elections and lost the seat to his brother Harish Meena.
Dausa MLA Harishchandra Meena is a retired Indian Police Service (IPS) officer and former director general of police (DGP). Harish Meena entered politics and joined Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) in 2014. He is currently serving as Member of Parliament from Dausa, Rajasthan constituency.
