Harassed by youth, girl commits suicide in Mansarovar

Jaipur: Depressed over harassment by a jilted lover, a 20-year-old girl committed suicide at her rented accommodation in Mansarovar area on Wednesday. In a suicide note, she apologized to her parents and then blamed a youth, identified by her as Sahil Varma, for her decision to end his life. She alleged in the suicide note that Sahil was harassing her.

The girl, Hansa Saini, was preparing for competitive examinations. She was a resident of Kanwat in Sikar district.

The suicide came to the knowledge of the landlady around 10.30 am. The landlord’s kitchen is attached to the room in which the girl lived. When the landlady went into the kitchen, she didn’t hear any noise from the girl’s room. She called for her, but got no response. When she peeked into the room through a window, she saw the girl hanging and informed the police.

“We have recovered a suicide note. She apologized to her parents for committing suicide and then blamed her decision on a youth identified by her as Sahil. We have come to know that Sahil belongs to a place near the girl’s village. He works with a finance company. We have launched a search for him. If the allegations are found true, we will book him for abatement to suicide. Further investigation is going on,” said a police officer.

The body of the girl was handed over to her family members after a postmortem examination.
