Jaipur: Police have arrested the alleged main shooter and one more accused in the Kalana village firing case in which a 17-year-old boy died in Hanumangarh’s Bhadra area, taking the total number of arrests in the case to 12, Superintendent of Police Narendra Singh Meena said on Thursday.

Bhadra Circle Officer Sanjeev Katewa said that the two arrested accused — Pawan (19), son of Santlal Nayak, a resident of Dhansiya village under Khuiyan police station, and Bajrang (20), son of Ramkumar Nayak, a resident of Ratusar under Nohar police station — were produced before a court, which remanded them to police custody till June 8.

According to police, the incident took place on May 22 when shots were fired at a mobile shop in Kalana village, which falls under the Bhadra police station area of Hanumangarh district. Manish (22), son of Charan Singh Sindariya, and Sandeep (17), son of Ramavatar Sindariya, both residents of Kalana, were injured in the firing and taken to the government sub-district hospital in Bhadra. Sandeep died during treatment, following which the murder charge under Section 103(1) of the BNS was added to the case. Manish is currently undergoing treatment at Jindal Hospital in Hisar.

A case has been registered at Bhadra police station under Sections 109(1), 111(2)(ii), 115(2), 103(1) and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and Section 27 of the Arms Act. The investigation is being carried out by SHO Hanumanaram Puni.

On receiving information about the firing, the SP had reached the spot along with Additional SP (Nohar) Geeta Chaudhary, Bhadra Circle Officer Sanjeev Katewa and Deputy SP Karan Singh, in-charge of the AGTF team, police said. Blockades were set up in the surrounding areas and MOB and FSL teams were called to the spot to collect evidence. Given the seriousness of the case, a Special Investigation Team (SIT) was constituted under the supervision of the three officers for speedy investigation and arrests.

Police said the SIT, acting on human and technical intelligence, arrested Pawan, the alleged main shooter, and Bajrang, who is accused of involvement in the conspiracy and recce ahead of the crime. Hanumangarh police had announced a reward of Rs 25,000 for the arrest of Pawan and two other wanted accused. Earlier, 10 accused alleged to have been part of the conspiracy and recce were arrested and sent to judicial custody — nine of them residents of Kalana, and one, Neeraj Yadav (24), originally from Lalganj in Raebareli district of Uttar Pradesh and currently living in Aya Nagar, New Delhi.

Teams are continuing raids at possible hideouts to nab the associates of the main shooter and other accused involved in the incident, who will be arrested soon, police said.
