Hanumangarh police arrest 41 in one-day ‘Area Domination’ drive against drugs and wanted criminals

Hanumangarh: Police in Hanumangarh district arrested 41 people during a single-day “Area Domination” operation on Sunday aimed at curbing organised crime, narcotics trafficking and tracking down wanted criminals, the district police said.

Superintendent of Police Narendra Singh Meena said 48 police teams comprising 222 personnel were formed and carried out raids at 196 locations across the district. The drive was conducted on the directions of Omprakash, Inspector General of the Bikaner Range, with officers directed to act within their respective jurisdictions.

Bhadra Circle Officer Sanjeev Katewa said two cases were registered under the Excise Act and Arms Act, with two accused arrested by Tibbi police, while Bhadra police registered one case under another Act and arrested one accused. Police said those held also included one person wanted in a heinous case, three wanted in general cases, one against whom a permanent warrant or proclaimed-offender process under Section 355 BNSS was pending, two carrying cash rewards and seven against whom arrest warrants were outstanding — taken into custody by the Talwara, Sadar Hanumangarh, Tibbi, Nohar, Rawatsar and Hanumangarh Junction police. Preventive action under Section 170 BNSS was taken against 24 habitual offenders.

In one of the day’s key arrests, a Goluwala police team led by station house officer Tejwant Singh held Devaram Bhambhu, 34, a resident of Rajaldesar in Churu district, who carried a Rs 10,000 reward announced by the SP. He was wanted in a 2023 NDPS case and was taken into custody on a production warrant from the Special Central Jail at Shyalawas, Dausa. According to police, the case dates to January 2023, when an accused was arrested with 720 kg of illegal doda post (poppy husk).

Separately, Talwara police arrested Semsdeen, 53, a resident of Phalodi in Jodhpur district, who carried a Rs 5,000 reward in an NDPS case, while Tibbi police arrested Lubandeep alias Toti, 20, of Tibbi, after allegedly recovering an illegal sharp-edged weapon and booked him under the Arms Act.
