JAIPUR: A man has been accused of murdering his girlfriend in Jaipur after bringing her here from Assam. The girl was reportedly in a live-in relationship with him.
The victim’s body was discovered hanging from a noose in their shared residence two months ago. The Chitrakoot police station launched an investigation into the incident. The body was handed over to her family after a postmortem examination. On Wednesday, in response to a complaint filed by the victim’s father, the man and his family were charged with murder.
A police officer said that the father of the deceased, Kandura Burman, hailing from Sitai Cooch Behar, had registered a murder case in connection with the death of his 26-year-old daughter, Premila.
The incident, which occurred on April 22, unfolded in the Chitrakoot area when the body of Premila was discovered hanging in a room.
Initially presumed to be a suicide, the police conducted a preliminary examination of the scene, arranged for a postmortem, and subsequently handed over the victim’s body to her family. However, the case took a dramatic turn when a murder complaint was lodged.
Pramila’s brother, Vidhan Burman, alleged that the accused, Parmeshwar Burman, was responsible for his sister’s death. Pramila resided with her husband and two children at her in-laws’ residence, where she first met Parmeshwar. Approximately a year and a quarter ago, Parmeshwar allegedly enticed Pramila away from Assam. Despite exhaustive efforts, Premila remained untraceable.
According to Vidhan Burman, on April 13, Premila contacted him, informing him of her whereabouts in Jaipur and requesting Rs 5,000. After sending the money on April 15, Vidhan attempted to reach his sister the following day, only to discover her phone switched off. Despite repeated attempts, the mobile number remained inaccessible.
Finally, on June 24, after many efforts to establish contact, Vidhan learned of Premila’s death, which had occurred two days prior. The accused, Parmeshwar, is alleged to have subjected his sister to torment, driving her away from Assam and compelling her to enter a live-in arrangement.
