Girl IIT aspirant from UP commits suicide in Kota

Jaipur: A girl coaching student belonging to Uttar Pradesh committed suicide by hanging herself from the ceiling of her hostel room in Kota. The girl who was preparing for IIT in Kota was allegedly under depression after a youth from her village threatened to make some obscene video and photos showing her in a compromising situation and make them go viral on social media. The family members have registered an FIR against the youth. The police are investigating the matter.

The accused was identified as Nishat, a resident of Faizabad area in Uttar Pradesh. He used to harass the girl before she came to Kota from her village. He used to force the girl to make physical relationship with him and threatened that he would make videos and photos to malign her image if she didn’t oblige.

The harassment didn’t stop even after the girl was sent to Kota for IIT coaching by her family members. Nishant used to call the girl. He continued to threaten her.

“We will study the call records. After we got the information, a police team was rushed to the hostel. The body has been handed over to family members after a post-mortem examination. We have registered the FIR in the matter and further investigation is going on,” said a police officer.
