Freak accident claims life of St Anselm’s student in Jaipur’s Malviya Nagar
The girl was crossing the road with her father when a crane mowed her down.

Jaipur: A four-year-old girl on her way to school with her father was killed in a freak accident in the city’s Malviya Nagar area on Tuesday. The girl was crossing the road with her father when a crane (earth moving machine) mowed her down. She was trying to climb onto a road divider when the mishap occurred.
The girl, Shanvi Singh, was a nursery student at St Anselm’s Pink City School in Malviya Nagar. She was a resident of Sidharth Nagar in Gataur Road area. His father is an assistant manager with a cooperative bank, assistant sub inspector Jagdish Sharma said.
“Her father had come to drop her at the school. He parked his car across the road from the school. He was crossing the road with Shanvi when the mishap occurred,” said a police officer.

The father was carrying her school bag. When they reached the divider in the middle of the road, the father managed to climb on to it, while the girl couldn’t.
A crane approaching towards them mowed down the girl.
She died on the spot.
The police arrested the crane driver Ajay Pal Singh and booked him for rackless driving and causing death due to negligence.
A police team brought her body to the mortuary of a nearby hospital for a postmortem examination.
The school has declared a day’s leave to mourn the girl’s death in the tragic mishap.

Police officials said that the girl had got admission in the school from this academic year.
The father was inconsolable after the mishap.
