Jaipur: Four Delhi-bound flights were diverted to Jaipur International Airport on Thursday after bad weather and low visibility in Delhi disrupted landings at the Delhi airport. With weather conditions deteriorating, some flights were placed on hold while several others had to be diverted to other airports.

IndiGo flight 6E-6358, flying from Kolkata to Delhi, was diverted to Jaipur after it did not get permission to land in Delhi, while Air India flight AI-422 from Amritsar to Delhi was also sent to Jaipur. Two international arrivals — IndiGo flight 6E-1074 from Phuket in Thailand and Oman Air flight WY-245 from Muscat in Oman — were also brought down at the Jaipur airport.

Owing to the adverse weather conditions at the Delhi airport, air traffic control has had to regulate flight movements. Several flights were kept on hold in the air, while some aircraft were diverted to nearby airports keeping fuel and operational requirements in mind.

With the sudden rise in flight movement at the Jaipur airport, the airport management and air traffic control are on alert mode. Airlines are providing passengers of the diverted flights necessary information regarding their onward journey.

According to the meteorological department, the spell of bad weather over Delhi and its surrounding areas is likely to continue, and air services may remain affected for the next few hours. More flights may therefore be diverted to Jaipur and other nearby airports.
