Four arrested for sex blackmailing Jodhpur businessman

Jaipur: The police have arrested four persons including a woman for sex-blackmailing a 38-year-old businessman belonging to Mathania area in Jodhpur. The accused persons threatened to implicate the businessman who runs a catering business in Mysore in Karnataka in a bogus rape case and demanded Rs 15 lakh from him. They had already received some gold jewellery and other valuables that the police have recovered.
The accused were identified as Rekha Mali (20), Rooparam Jat, Nathuram Jat, Hapuram Jat. They are residents of various places in Jodhpur and Barmer districts.
The 38-year-old victim, Sumeraram – is a resident of Gagadi – lodged an FIR with Mathania police station recently. Sumera Ram runs a catering business in Mysore. He alleged that a woman called him up and expressed her wish to befriend him. She called her to a place. Sumeraram met her at a bus stand near Gagadi on September 19. The woman took him to Jodhpur.
On the way, the victim’s car was intercepted by an SUV. There were five men in the SUV. They forced him into their vehicle and robbed him of his valuables and gold. They started demanding Rs 15 lakh from him. He agreed and somehow managed to get himself freed.
Police officials said that one of the accused is a friend of the victim who betrayed him. Rooparam had given Rekha Sumeraram’s number and other details.
The police have arrested the accused persons and interrogation with them is going on.
