Jaipur: Former chief secretary (CS) of Rajasthan Vipin Bihari Lal (VBL) Mathur died after suffering from a prolonged illness on Wednesday. Bureaucrats in the state mourned his death as he had been a widely respected administrative officer. He served as chief secretary in Congress as well as BJP governments. He is survived by his wife and two sons.
Mathur lived with his family at Barwada House on Ajmer Road.
“He had been one of the most talented bureaucrats in the history of independent India. He had been close to chief ministers of Congress as well as BJP. They regarded his talent, rather than his political inclinations,” said a senior bureaucrat.
His body will be cremated at Lal Kothi cremation center around 2 pm on Thursday. Many senior politicians, bureaucrats and police officials are likely to attend his funeral.
