Food inspector, clerk arrested by ACB for taking bribe

Jaipur: Rajasthan police’s anti-corruption bureau (ACB) on Wednesday arrested food inspector, identified as Sriram Mishra deputed in the office of chief medical and health officer (CMHO) in Rajsamand after he allegedly caught red-handed taking a bribe of Rs 10,000.

He was taking the bribe for not taking action against a dairy for food safety violations, ACB officials said.

One Kalu Singh Chohan approached the ACB and registered a complaint against Meena.

“We verified the complaint and laid a trap. Meena was arrested taking the bribe red-handed,” DG ACB Alok Tripathi said.

The ACB also arrested ASI Mohan Kumar Ninama after he was allegedly caught red-handed taking a bribe of Rs 10,000.  The ASI was deputed in Sadar police station of Basnwara town.

Mohan Kumar was demanding bribe from ACB’s complainants – Kantilal Bheel and Havaji Bheel  for not taking two criminals on production warrant and not making them an accused in some cases of theft, ACB DG Tripathi said.

“After verifying the complaint, ACB caught Mohan Kumar red-handed taking a bribe of Rs 10,000,” said the officer.

The ACB also nabbed junior clerk Sandeep Kumar deputed in the SDM office of Jhunjhunu’s Malsisar area for taking a bribe of Rs 4,000. He was demanding the bribe to add the name of the ACB complaints in the Food Safety Scheme.

The cases have been registered under various sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act.

“Further investigation is continuing,” said the officer.
