Five new medical colleges in Rajasthan to become functional from July

Jaipur: Five new medical colleges will become functional in Rajasthan from July 1.
These five government medical colleges will be in Pali, Dungarpur, Bharatpur, Bhilwara and Churu. With the opening of these medical colleges, there will be an increase of 500 MBBS seats in Rajasthan.
The Rajasthan government has announced to set up eight new medical colleges. Sources said that while these five colleges will start enrolling students from this academic session, the remaining three in Alwar, Sikar and Barmer may become functional from the next academic year only.
Confusion had been prevailing for a long time whether the state government would be able to open these medical colleges this year.
Rajasthan medical and health minister Kalicharan Saraf has asked officials to ensure that the session in these five collages start from July 1.
Officials said they are communicating with the Medical Council of India, requesting it to give approval to these five medical colleges.
They said that most of resources required get MCI affiliation for a medical college have been arranged.
