First coronavirus case reported in Ajmer; curfew imposed

Jaipur: Ajmer reported the district’s first coronavirus case on Saturday. A 22-year-old man tested positive for the virus. The man had returned home from Punjab a few days ago. The administration has imposed curfew in 1 km radius of the man’s house in Clock Tower area. The area is densely populated, so the administration isn’t taking any chances, officials said.
The man has been admitted to a hospital for treatment, while his family members have been isolated. The medical and health department teams have started conducting a door-to-door survey in the are.
Three more cases were reported in Bhilwara – two youths and a young girl. All the people found infected on Saturday are aged below 30 years. The total number of cases in Rajasthan has gone up to 54.
Bhilwara has reported 24 cases so far. The administration has made preparations to quarantine over 15,000 people if needed.
Meanwhile, the curfew continued in Ramganj area of Jaipur after two men tested positive for the virus. The curfew has been imposed on Friday night. The administration didn’t allow people in the Walled City areas to venture out of their homes.
Over 12,00 prisoners of Jodhpur Central Jail observed hunger strike demanding that they be released from the jail in the wake of the Coronavirus scare. Those who were on strike included self-proclaimed godman Asaram Bapu and former cabinet minister Mahipal Maderana. The prison administration placated the agitating prisoners following which the strike was postponed till Tuesday.
