JAIPUR: The annual sports and cultural fest ‘Lakshya 2023’ at Poornima University (PU) was a memorable event for students, featuring live performances from singer, actor, and director Farhan Akhtar and many other celebrities.

Col Rajyavardhan Rathore, MP of Jaipur Rural, inaugurated the three-day fest by lighting the torch as the chief guest. Rahul Singhi, Co-Founder of PU; Dr. Manoj Gupta, Pro-President; Dr. Chandni Kriplani, Registrar; and Dr. Rakesh Gupta, DSW of Poornima University, also attended the event.

Col Rajyavardhan Rathore unveiled the winner and runner-up trophies for the Lakshya Fest, encouraging students to pursue their passions wholeheartedly in order to achieve success.

He shared his journey from his army career to sports and politics, highlighting his entry into politics with the aim of contributing positively to the country. Pritam Kumar, Chair of the Student Council, informed attendees about the various activities planned for the fest.

The inauguration was followed by captivating live performances by Priya Andrews and Sanam Band, which had students dancing to a mix of new and old songs, presented in the band’s unique style.

The second day of the fest showcased sportsmanship and intense competition among students participating in various games, including cricket, kabaddi, table tennis, basketball, volleyball, carrom, chess, and box cricket. Despite the exhaustion from the day’s events, students were reenergized by a DJ night featuring DJ Shadow, DJ Olly Esse, and DJ Sartek, which was enjoyed by both students and faculty members alike.

On the final day, actor Nani visited the Poornima University campus to promote his upcoming Telugu film ‘Dasara’, sharing insights about the movie during a student interaction. Comedian Vikalp Mehta entertained the audience with his humour and dance performances, including renditions of popular songs such as ‘Main Khiladi Tu Anari’, ‘Bala’, ‘Main Tera Hero’, and ‘Kitne Armaan’, as well as delivering many of Akshay Kumar’s famous dialogues in his own style.

The much-anticipated performance by Farhan Akhtar was the highlight of the evening, as he captivated the audience with songs like ‘Mere Yaar Suno Suno’, ‘Tarkeebein’, ‘Rock On’, ‘Hawan Karenge’, ‘Main Aisa Kyun Hoon’, ‘Ye Zindagi’, ‘Senorita’, ‘Dil Chahta Hai’, ‘Dil Dhadakne Do’, and ‘Zinda’, among others.

The fest was organized in a closed convention format, allowing students to reside on the university campus for three consecutive days and participate in various activities. This unique approach aimed to foster teamwork, sportsmanship, and other essential skills among the students.
