Jaipur: The Rajasthan government will build an elevated road between Narayan Singh Circle and Sethi Colony Mental Hospital in Transport Nagar. The JDA has been asked to prepare a detailed project report (DPR) and issue tenders. The decision was taken in a high-level meeting presided over by UDH minister Shanti Dhariwal on Wednesday. The elevated road will be 2-km long.

“The elevated road between Narayan Singh Circle and Sethi Colony is being constructed keeping in view the growing traffic load on this stretch,” said a senior JDA officer. The officer added that the traffic load on this stretch has increased due to the vehicles entering and exiting the city on Agra Road and Delhi Road.

The meeting was attended by UDH principal secretary Bhaskar Sawant, self governance department secretary Bhawani Singh Detha, Jaipur district collector Jagroop Singh Yadav, JDC T Ravikant and DCP traffic Rahul Prakash.

“The traffic congestions due to the vehicles entering from Delhi Road and Agra Road will decrease after the construction of this elevated road. We will soon prepare a DPR and issue tenders,” said the officer.

UDH minister Shanti Dhariwal also instructed the officials to identify new parking spaces in the city.

The officer said that the traders who were allotted land in the New Aatish Market will be asked to vacate their old shops in the Aatish Market in the Walled City area to ease traffic load. The place will be used to construct a new parking space in the Walled City.
