Jaipur: Elephant rides and night tourism will be closed for eleven days at Amber Fort in Jaipur from Tuesday. It will be closed from October 9 to October 19 due to the upcoming Navaratri Mela at Amber Fort. The temporary termination of the rides and night tourism takes place every year due to the Navratri festival.
A large number of people visit Amer Fort during the Navratri season. The rides at the massive courtyard of Jaleb Chowk and the popular Shitla Mata temple attract a lot of tourists and pilgrims.
Pankaj Dhirendra, Amber Palace superintendent said that the decision was made to ensure the security of tourists and to avoid any mismanagement during the festival mela at Amber Fort.
For the convenience of tourists during the festival period, ticket booking arrangements will be made at Singh Pole (Lion Gate) as well as Tripolia Gate of the city. People can also take the exit route via the Tripolia gate.
Night tourism at the fort was officially launched on February 21, 2015, after putting the lights and fixtures in place.
‘Amber by Night,’ was initiated by the Department of Art and Culture, presenting a spectacular view of the fort with lights illuminating it and lending a new perspective to its ambiance.
It has been a remarkably popular concept as low temperatures at night are a perfect way to explore the fort and witness the city from a great height.
