Jaipur: Jaipur Police have uncovered an online betting racket with direct operational links to Dubai, highlighting how overseas digital infrastructure is increasingly being used to run illegal gambling networks in India. The action was taken under the ongoing Vajra Prahar 2.0 campaign in Jaipur West, leading to the arrest of five accused and the detention of one minor.
Investigators revealed that while local handlers managed promotions and money collection in Jaipur and nearby districts, the technical control of betting platforms originated outside India. A key accused, identified only as “Jack”, allegedly operated from abroad and supplied master IDs for betting websites using Dubai-based virtual phone numbers. These master IDs allowed the Jaipur-based operators to activate betting panels, manage users and route wagers in real time.
Police say this foreign link made the racket harder to detect initially, as communication, access credentials and platform control did not originate from Indian servers or numbers.
How users were trapped through social media
The racket was promoted aggressively on Instagram, where the accused advertised a website named criccode, falsely claiming it to be a “verified online gaming platform”. Interested users were asked to contact numbers shared in posts and stories. Once connected, victims were instructed to transfer money through UPI and bank accounts, after which bets were placed on their behalf.
So far, police have identified more than 50 fake or mule bank accounts used to circulate betting funds. Around Rs. 2 lakh has already been frozen, and further financial scrutiny is underway with the cyber cell to trace additional transactions and links to overseas handlers.
The crackdown was carried out under the direction of DCP Jaipur West Hanuman Prasad (IPS), with Additional DCP Rajesh Kumar Gupta (RPS) supervising the operation. Teams from the cyber cell, technical branch and district special team worked together to dismantle the network.
