Dog cracks blind murder case for Jaipur police

A Belgium shepherd canine led the cops to the house of a suspect involved in the murder of a man whose body was found lying near railway tracks in Phulera on Thursday night.

Jaipur: A Belgium shepherd canine has helped Jaipur rural police solve a blind murder case. The murder had been staged as an accident, but the dog guided the cops to the house of a suspect.

The canine who is a member of the Jaipur police’s dog squad followed the scent from some objects found lying near the body. The police have detained some suspects and said that the mystery behind the murder would soon be disclosed.

The body of one Bhagchand Nayak was found lying near railway tracks near Phulera town in Jaipur rural on Thursday night. It had been dumped on the railway tracks so that the murder looked like a suicide or an accident.

The Belgium shepherd dog was brought to the spot. A pair of sandals was found near the body.

“The footwear belonged to a woman. The dog followed the scent and led us to a house, nearly one km from the spot. At this time, we are not revealing who the house belonged to, but we have got our suspect. Someone known to the deceased man attempted to stage the murder as a suicide or accident,” said a police officer, pleading anonymity.

The cops seized a shovel used in the crime from the house, sources said.

“The victim had been hit on his head with the shovel. We found some hairs from the victim and blood stains on the murder weapon,” said the officer.

The father of the victim registered an FIR for homicide.

The police suspect involvement of a woman and her family member in the murder.
