Jaipur: In a decoy operation, the PCPNDT cell has arrested Dr. Rajesh Kumar of Chomu Janana and General hospital for illegal sex determination test, violating the Pre-Conception and Pre-Natal Diagnostic Techniques Act (PCPNDT) on Thursday. The police have seized the sonography machine and booked the accused under the PCPNDT Act. Pre-natal sex determination is a crime.

According to the police, the accused Dr. Rajesh Kumar took Rs 30,000 for performing the sex determination in Chomu.

The police team and PCPNDT cell received a tip-off and launched decoy operation. The team caught Dr. Rajesh Kumar red-handed while performing prenatal sex determination of a woman at Janana hospital in Chomu.

As per preliminary reports, on the insistence of the PCPNDT cell the family members approached the doctor and told him that they wanted to know the sex of the child, whether it was a girl or a boy, so they bribed Dr. Rajesh to conduct the pre-natal sex determination. The deal was fixed at Rs 30,000.

PCPNDT conducted a decoy operation and arrested the doctor. It is the third successful decoy operation in the last six weeks, said officials.

Further investigation is going on.
