Jaipur: The Ashok Gehlot government on Friday announced Diwali bonus for its 6 lakh employees. The gazetted government officials have been exempted from this benefit. Chief minister Ashok Gehlot approved the proposal to offer Diwali bonus to the employees. It will create an additional financial burden of Rs 406 crore on the treasury.

“The employee with pay-matrix level 12 or below will get the bonus benefit. The gazetted government officials have been exempted. The maximum amount of the bonus will be Rs 6,774. Those who will get the bonus include panchayat samiti and zila parishad employees,” said a government press release.

After the Union Cabinet raised dearness allowance by 5% for 50 lakh union government employees and 65 lakh pensioners, the Rajasthan government was under pressure to do the same. The benefit was expected to be announced after the cabinet meeting three days ago, but the government didn’t raise the DA in the state which came as a big disappointment to the employees.
