Jaipur: NSUI and ABVP have declared their panels of candidates for the upcoming Rajasthan University student union election 2019. ABVP has fielded Arun Sharma for the post of general secretary, while Kiran Meena will fight the election for the post of joint secretary. NSUI has declared Priyanka Meena as its candidate for the vice president post, Mahaveer Gurjar for the post of general secteary and Laxmi Pratap Khangarot for the post of joint secretary. With the announcement of the candidates’ names, dissidence has come to fore in both the student unions.
Mukesh Choudhary of NSUI and Nitin Sharma of ABVP have announced to fight the election as independent candidates. This may disrupt winning chances of both the student unions as rebels have emerged victories in the previous three elections.
Mukesh Choudhary alleged that the union has given a ticket to a candidate who got admission in the university on the basis of bogus degrees. “He is actually a class 12 drop-out. I plan to fight for the post of president as an independent because I believe I deserved the chance,” said Choudhary.
Choudhary also accused the union leaders of demanding Rs 52 lakh for the ticket.
The nominations will be filed on Thursday. The nomination will be checked from 3 pm to 5 pm.
NSUI and ABVP on Tuesday declared their candidates for the post of president. The fight will be between Amit Kumar Badbadwal of ABVP and Uttam Choudhary of NSUI. Amit had been the president of Law College student union.
