Digital literacy workshop organized at JIET University Jodhpur

Jaipur: The Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE) Department of JIET Universe, Jodhpur, hosted a one-day workshop titled “Bhartiya Model of Digital Literacy: Bridging the Gap Between Use of Technology and Digital Citizenship”. Sponsored by the Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR), the workshop aimed to educate students on the critical aspects of digital literacy, including online security, privacy, and cyber fraud prevention.

The event witnessed the participation of around 100 first-year students who gained valuable insights into the ethical and responsible use of technology. Dr. Priyanka Vijay from Banasthali Vidyapeeth, the keynote speaker, highlighted the importance of digital literacy in fostering responsible digital citizenship. She also discussed how social media platforms can be leveraged for professional growth and career development.

Rakhi Peswani, Academic Consultant at Emeritus, provided practical examples of digital literacy and emphasized its significance in the realm of e-commerce. She also shed light on key aspects of cyber security, equipping students with strategies to avoid digital fraud.

Concluding the event, Dr. Vineet Mehta, Dean of JIET Universe, and Dr. Laxmi Choudhary, Head of the ECE Department, presented mementos to the speakers as a token of appreciation. They expressed that the workshop was an initiative to promote awareness of digital responsibility and to prepare students for the safe and effective use of technology in today’s digital age.

This workshop served as a significant step in bridging the knowledge gap between technology usage and digital citizenship, encouraging students to navigate the digital world responsibly.
