Depressed over debts, farmer commits suicide in Baran

Jaipur: A 40-year-old farmer was found hanging from a tree in his agriculture farm in Baran district on Wednesday. The police suspect that he committed suicide. He was allegedly depressed over mounting debts which he was unable to pay off from his agriculture income. He apparently took the extreme step as he was depressed over the debts.
The farmer was identified as Hajarilal Gurjar, a resident of Bohat village in Mangrol tehsil. He used a rope to hang himself from a tree on his agriculture farm. When nearby residents saw his body hanging, they informed the police. Police teams rushed to the spot. The doctors declared him brought dead on arrival.
There are reports that the victim had borrowed money from banks as well as loan sharks. He was under pressure to pay his debts off.
The body has been put in the mortuary of a government hospital for a postmortem examination. The police are recording statements of his family members and villagers to know what caused him to take the extreme step. Further investigation is going on.
