Jaipur: A Delhi tourist allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself in the bathroom of the hotel he was staying in. The hotel is located near the Ganj police station in Ajmer. He had come to Ajmer with four friends including two girls from Delhi. The police have recovered nearly Rs 11 lakh in possession of the friend. No suicide note was recovered from the room.

The deceased has been identified as Shashikant alias Deepak (44). He and his friend from Mumbai Sitara Singh, Awaljit Singh and two girls were staying in three rooms in Hotel Regal located on Ganj Tirahe since April 28. All of them had come in a Scorpio car to visit Ajmer and Pushkar. On Friday evening, the body of Shashikant alias Deepak was found hanging in the bathroom. The friends saw him hanging and informed the hotel management following which the police were informed.

The police suspect that Deepak was in debt, so he was depressed; however, further investigation is going on to ascertain as to why the man committed suicide.

On getting information about the incident, a police team headed by DSP Ramavatar reached the spot. The police searched the rooms occupied by the friends. Rs 9.5 lakh in cash was recovered from one of the rooms, while Rs 1.5 lakh from another room. The police said that they are quizzing the friends about the source of the money.

The police have kept the body of the deceased in a mortuary for a postmortem examination. Deepak – originally hailing from Nepal – had been living in Delhi for a long time.
