Jaipur: Jaipur Municipal Corporation (JMC) has launched a campaign against institutes and businesses which indulge in putting up posters and banners on public properties in the city without securing permission from the civic body.

The JMC’s Moti Dungri zone on Wednesday sealed a coaching institute situated in KD Campus on Tonk Road.

The coaching institute allegedly posted advertisements on public properties.

JMC has imposed a penalty of Rs 3.50 lakh and sealed the institute’s building.

The action was taken under various sections of the Prevention of Defacement of Property Act.

When a JMC team reached the coaching institute on Wednesday, many students were sitting in classes.

The students were taken out and the building was sealed.

Mayor Ashok Lahoty had instructed officials to take action against institutions and businesses involved in defacing public properties by putting up posters and banners.

The focus is on coaching and other educational institutes.

JMC officials said that the campaign would continue in the coming days as strict action would be taken against violators.
