Jaipur: The Rajasthan Roadways administration has announced to increase the DA paid to RSRTC pensioners. The increase in DA was announced following the strike by Rajasthan Roadways employees, which brought the entire transport system to a standstill in the state.
Rajasthan Roadways pensioners will be given an increase of 136% in DA from April 1, 2017, increase of 139% from October 1, 2017 and 142% from March 1, 2018. Rajasthan Roadways CMD Rajhans Upadhyay issued the order regarding the DA increase on Wednesday.
Alleging that Roadways administration was paying heed to their demands, RSRTC employees went on a two-day strike from midnight on Monday, causing the corporation a loss of nearly Rs 5.5 crore every day. They alleged that they had appraised the government of their demands, but no one paid heed. The strike is being supported by all the major employees unions in the state.
More than 4500 Rajasthan Roadways buses stopped running on the roads starting from 12.01 am on Wednesday. The strike will continue for two days till midnight on July 26. The employees’ unions warned that it could be extended if the demands of Roadways employees were not met.
Nearly 11 lakh passengers travel in 4800 buses run by RSRTC daily, generating revenue of Rs 5.32 crore.
Low-floor buses in the city are also not plying as their drivers are also participating in the strike.
