Jaipur: The Rajasthan home department on Sunday clarified the confusion prevailing over the time period allowed for organizing wedding rituals in wake of the Covid-19 situation. The department said that the 3-hour-limit will be applicable to wedding feast only, not other rituals and religious customs. Many families were confused about whether all wedding ceremonies were to be completed within 3 hours. The department also clarified that those in the music bands would not be counted in the guest limit which is capped at 50.

The wedding processions will be allowed to visit from one district to another. The department had earlier issued an order in which it was stated that people would not be able to do inter-district travelling from Monday. However, a copy of the information sent to the local SDM for the wedding ceremony will need to be shown to the police when asked.

Jewellery, garments and other items already ordered for the wedding ceremony will also be allowed to be transported from the market. The jewellery and garment shops will be allowed to open for the delivery of the item ordered for the wedding.

The Rajasthan government published fresh Covid-19 guidelines in newspapers, but the confusion prevailed over wedding ceremony-related norms.

The new home department orders are being sent to all district collectors and superintendents of police.

Inter-district travel by private vehicles will be allowed only in emergency situations from Monday. The government has also issued fresh guidelines for grocery and vegetable shops.
