COVID-19: Police team attacked in Tonk; 3 cops injured

Jaipur: A group of people allegedly attacked a police team in Tonk on Friday when the latter was trying to impose lockdown guidelines in their colony. Three policemen were reportedly injured in the attack. Additional police force was deployed to maintain law and order. The three policemen were admitted to a hospital for primary treatment.
The incident took place in Kasaiyon Ki Gali in Panch Batti’s Gaddha Pahadia area in Tonk. A police team had gone to the area to explain to people why following the lockdown guidelines were important to prevent the spread of coronavirus (COVI-19). A group of people suddenly started manhandling the policemen. Three cops were injured. Additional force police was rushed to the spot and a few people were taken into custody. Senior police officers also visited Kotwali police station and took stock of the situation.
This is the second incident of attack in Tonk. Earlier, some people attacked a medical team involved in collecting samples of people with coronavirus symptoms.
Sixty-two new Coronavirus cases were reported in Rajasthan till 2 pm on Friday. Of them, 32 were reported in Jodhpur, 13 in Tonk, six each in Jaipur and Kota and one each in Jhunjhunu, two in Nagaur Ajmer and Jhalawar. One of the two people who tested positive in Nagaur is a woman police constable. The total number of cases in the state have reached 1193.
