Jaipur: The municipal corporations have warned the marriage gardens that their license will be cancelled if more than 100 people are allowed to attend the wedding functions and other COVID-19 guidelines are flouted. The JMC officials said that the marriage garden will be sealed and its license will be cancelled if this order is flouted.

The Rajasthan government has put a cap on the number of people who can attend a wedding function. No more than 100 people are allowed. The organizers also have to ensure that all the people in the function follow social distancing and wear masks; however, these rules are being openly flouted.

DLB director Deepak Nandi issued an order in this regard. “We will take action against the marriage garden management also if social distancing is not followed or number of guests exceed 100,” said the order.

There are about 470 licensed marriage gardens in the city. Of them, 58 are in Sanganer Zone, 15 in Hawamahal East, 3 in Hawamahal West, 122 in Vidhyadhar Nagar20 in Amber, 74 in Motidungari, 86 in Civil Lines and 94 in Mansarovar zone. The Heritage and Greater Municipal Corporations will form teams at zonal level to ensure compliance with these orders.

Marriage garden owners said that the people are being asked to sign affidavit before renting a marriage garden.

“What can we possibly do if people flout COVID-19 guidelines even after signing the affidavits,” said a marriage garden owner.
