Consumer complaint helpline in Jaipur: What you need to know

Jaipur: Have you been duped while buying something from a major brand online? Do you feel a restaurant in Jaipur charged you unfairly? Well the first step you can take is to call up the consumer complaint helpline number run by the Rajasthan government in association with Consumer Action and Network Society (CANS), a non-profit organization, and register a complaint. According to the government of India’s department of consumer affairs, you can dial the following number to register your complaint with the helpline: 1800-180-6030 Officials said that the helpline receives more than 1000 calls from consumers in Rajasthan. Most complaints are related to mobile banking, officials said. Consumers are complaining that due to technical glitches in mobile banking, they are suffering financial loses. Cases of online frauds are also being reported. More and more people are complaining that they are not getting what they ordered for. For example, a person who orders for a mobile phone receives bricks or invaluable items in its place. The helpline officials try to resolve the issue by advising the complainant about what steps they can take against faulty companies and service providers. As per the CANS website, consumers are provided free legal assistance and their cases are successfully presented before the Consumer Courts. CANS run various programmes related to consumer protection. They include 16 programmes at national level, and more than 121 at state level. CANS also conduct seminars and workshops for consumer awareness. CANS is also engaged in consumer awareness education activities in schools and educational institutes.
