Congress parshad, sub-inspector, constable of Heritage Municipal Corporation arrested for taking bribe

JAIPUR: The Rajasthan Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has apprehended a Congress corporator, a sub-inspector, and a constable on charges of accepting a bribe of Rs 80,000. The constable was caught in the act, which led to the subsequent arrests of the corporator and sub-inspector.
They are accused of demanding the bribe to allow the construction of a house. The ACB’s ADG Hemant Priyadarshi named those detained as Umesh Sharma, the corporator of Ward number 33, Sub-inspector Anil Singh, and Constable Bhawani Singh who were posted in the vigilance wing of the Heritage Nagar Nigam.
The complaint was lodged on November 16 by a citizen who claimed that the trio demanded Rs 1,00,000 to allow the construction work on his house. The ACB verified the complaint and when it was found geneniune, a trap was laid.
Constable Bhawani Singh had instructed the complainant to meet at Choti Chopad to deliver the bribe, where he was caught red-handed. An ACB team set up a trap and conducted late-night searches at the residences of the accused. The investigation is ongoing.
