Congress condemn attack on NSUI leaders Ranveer Singhania and Abhimanyu Poonia

The Congress leaders demanded a speedy probe into the matter and put the culprits behind bars. Student leaders alleged this is probably for the first time in the history of Rajasthan University student union elections that a candidate for the president post has been attacked in such a brutal manner.

Jaipur: Rajasthan Congress chief Sachin Pilot, former chief minister Ashok Gehlot and several other Congress leaders condemned the attack on NSUI candidate for president post Ranveer Singhania and state NSUI president Abhimanyu Poonia.

The Congress leaders demanded a speedy probe into the matter and said that culprits should be put behind bars.

Former Congress President Ashok Gehlot expressed his concern in a tweet. He said, ‘Attack on NSUI President candidate for RUSU Election Ranveer Singhania and NSUI State president Abhimanyu Poonia at RU campus last night is condemnable. I wish them speedy recovery. There must be an investigation and culprits must be arrested asap.’

 

Congress state President Sachin Pilot condemned the assault on NSUI candidate and tweeted that ‘There is no place for violence in the politics. The culprits should be caught soon and strict action must be taken. I pray for speedy recovery of Ranveer and Abimanuyu.’

 

Leader of Opposition in the state assembly Rameshwar Dudi reached SMS Hospital on Thursday morning to visit Ranveer and Abhimanyu. He said that the attack took place due to the negligence of police in the security.

According to police, NSUI Candidate for presidents’ post, Ranveer Singh Singhania and State NSUI president Abhimanyu Poonia were on their way to Aravali Hostel from the university campus, when more than a dozen assailants attacked them.Ranveer Singh suffered serious injuries on his head and was taken to SMS Hospital. As the news of the attack spread, hundreds of NSUI supporters reached the hospital.Ranveer Singh was getting threat calls since morning. He was threatened on the phone to withdraw him name from the elections.
