Commercial activities in residential premises: JDA seals 6 buildings in Vaishali Nagar
Action taken in compliance with a Rajasthan high court order.

Jaipur: Jaipur Development Authority has started taking strict against shops, showrooms, restaurants, hospitals and other commercial establishments being run out of residential buildings. The enforcement wing launched a campaign against this in Vaishali Nagar’s C-Block and sealed six such buildings. Commercial activities were stopped in four others.
Local residents have been complaining against commercial activities in residential premises in Vaishali Nagar for a long time, but the JDA didn’t pay any heed. The Rajasthan high court directed the civic body to take action in this regard following which JDA’s zonal office prepared a physical inspection report. On the basis of this report, notices were served on 11 buildings in the C-Block. One of the owners got a stay order from the high court, while action was taken against the remaining 10 buildings.
Four buildings housing a beauty parlor, CA office and IT office stopped commercial activities, but the six remaining buildings didn’t comply with the notices.
On this, a JDA enforcement team led by enforcement controller Rajendra Singh Sisodia forced the occupants to vacate these premises.
The buildings housed Mother care, Raghav Restaurant, Sogani Jwellers, Rock and Sold Restaurant, a dental hospital and American School.
Some people protested against the JDA action saying that commercial activities in residential premises are everywhere in Jaipur, so why they were being singled out.
However JDA officials showed the high court orders in this regard and had the premises vacated.
