Jaipur: if you are a tourist – planning to stay in Jaipur till January 14, one thing you must have on your itinerary is the International Kite Festival. On the occasion of Hindu festival Makar Sankranti celebrated on January 14 each year, the state tourism department will organize a colorful kite festival at Jal Mahal Ki Pal from 11 am to 2 pm.

Kite exhibitions, fancy kite flying demonstration and kite flying competitions will be some of the highlights of the event.

“The festival will be organised on the occasion of Makar Sankranti at Jal Mahal  in Jaipur from 11 am.,” a tourism department official said.

The event will be organised under the public private partnership (PPP) mode.

Many international kite flyers from the US, Canada, Britain, the Netherlands, Belgium, Singapore, Malaysia and Indonesia are likely to show their skills. Kite flyers from across India will also bring their colourful creations to fill the skies of Jaipur.

The festival will not be limited to kite flying. A cultural event in which artists will present folk music is on the cards. The tourists will be presented with free kites. The tourist department has also arranged for camel cart rides for tourists.
