CM Ashok Gehlot meets Sonia Gandhi to discuss cabinet reshuffle in Rajasthan
Jaipur: With cabinet expansion and political appointments in Rajasthan on the cards, Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot met Congress President Sonia Gandhi in Delhi on Thursday. There were reports that Gehlot discussed with Gandhi the formula to be followed for the cabinet expansion and political appointments.
It was after a long time that Gehlot had a one-one-one meeting with Sonia Gandhi. Gehlot told media persons that the party high command would decide on the cabinet reshuffle.
“I have given my report. I have apprised the party of the situation. Any decision in this regard is to be taken by the high command. The decision will be acceptable to all of us,” Gehlot said.
On the question of whether there will be a cabinet reshuffle, Gehlot said, the high command would take a call on when the cabinet expansion would take place. Ajay Maken has also been apprised of the situation, he said. Maken will hold discussion with Rahul Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi following which the decision regarding cabinet reshuffle would be taken.
Gehlot said that the media should not read too much into the meeting. A marathon meeting was held at Rahul Gandhi's residence in the presence of Priyanka Gandhi on Wednesday night. Priyanka Gandhi, organization general secretary KC Venugopal, in-charge Ajay Maken and chief minister Ashok Gehlot had discussed cabinet reshuffle and political appointments. The formula for satisfying the leaders of all the camps by giving them space was also discussed in this meeting.
