Churu custodial death: Medical report rules out gangrape

Jaipur: A medical report has ruled out gang rape with the sister-in-law of a man who died allegedly in police custody in Sadarshahar police station of Churu district. The police however admitted that the woman may have been beaten up at the police station.
The woman had been called to the police station after her brother-in-law was arrested in connection with a jewellery theft case. The police accused the woman of keeping the stolen jewellery. The woman had registered an FIR against Sardarshahar policemen including SHO accusing them of gang rape and torture. A medical examination was conducted. The report which came out on Tuesday concluded that the there were no injuries suggesting rape. The police are now waiting for the forensic report to determine if the woman was gang raped.
An FIR accusing the woman’s brother-in-law of theft was registered six months ago. The police investigated the case and filed a final report (FR) when no evidence was found against him. Nemichand was missing from his village for the past six months. When he was spotted a few days ago, the local residents thrashed him and then handed him over to the police.
The victim’s sister-in-law alleged that she was brought to the police station cops. They accused her of keeping the gold jewellery which her brother-in-law stole. In the name of investigation, they allegedly beat her up and then gang raped her.
