‘Chittorgarh Fort Festival’ from Feb 10 to Feb 12; Many events planned for tourists

The festival aims to showcase the glorious history and culture of Chittorgarh though different forms of art. The festival will take tourists on a journey of Mewadi and Rajasthani culture through different activities.

Chittorgarh fort festival

Jaipur: Known for heritage and royalty, Chittorgarh will host three-day-long ‘Chittorgarh Fort Festival’ from February 10 to February 12.  The district administration and tourism department are organizing the festival for the first time to boost tourism.

The festival aims to showcase the glorious history and culture of Chittorgarh though different forms of art. The festival will take tourists on a journey of Mewadi and Rajasthani culture through different activities.

Some special attractions of the festival include kite flying, hot air balloon rides for the visitors from morning to evening and folk performances.

The first day of the festival is also Basant Panchami, the day when spring arrives. On the same day, Maharana Kumbha established the Vijay Stambh.

According to Chittorgarh district collector Shivani Swarnkaar, administration has decided to organize the Chittorgarh fort festival for the first time to increase the tourist football to the city known for its heritage and royal history. The efforts are also being made to open the Vijay Stambh memorial for the public during the festival.

The Archeological department restricted entry for the Vijay Stambh (Victory tower) for 70 days nearly a month ago due to maintenance work.

The fairs and festivals at different cities of the state have proved successful for the growth of the tourism industry. The same efforts are being made in Chittorgarh. With the expansion of the tourism industry, the festival will allow visitors to get acquainted with the glorious history of Chittorgarh, added Shivani.

The event scheduled is as follows:

  • February 10, Sunday: Welcome ceremony for tourists at Gora-Badal stadium, Inauguration of handicraft fair, Shobha-Yatra to the fort, Activities including wrestling, Chittorgarh Kesari, Dance competition and Horse competition. Folk performances at evening and fireworks at night.
  • February 11, Monday: Morning marathon ‘Run for Fort’, whole day long activities and competitions at Gora-Badal stadium and Fatehprakash ground. Cultural evenings and crackling nights.
  • February 12, Tuesday: Village Safari and traditional lunch for foreign tourists at Bassi village, Deep Daan at Ratan Singh Pond, folk performances and grand closing ceremony of the event.
