Chittorgarh: 5 prisoners in institutional quarantine escape from hospital, 2 held

Jaipur: Five prisoners who were admitted to a Covid-19 isolation centre at the district hospital in Chittorgarh escaped around 4.30 am on Monday. Lapses in the security arrangements have come to the fore. The prison department has launched an investigation. Two of the prisons were arrested, while three are still at large. A massive hunt has been launched for them.
There is a separate isolation centre for prisoners in the Chittorgarh hospital. Five men, identified as Kuldeep, Pintu, Mukesh, Pappu and Sanjya, were arrested by the cops of different police stations in separate cases. They were tested for Covid-19. They came positive following which they were quarantined. In the quarantine centre, there were four more prisoners. There were six security guards deputed at the centre when the incident took place.
One of the prisoners informed a guard about the incident. The guard found that the five inmates removed the makeshift roof to escape. They climbed onto a nearby rooftop and then used stairs to escape from the hospital.
After getting information about the escape, senior police officers including ASP Himmat Singh Deval rushed to the spot. Police barricades were put up in the surrounding areas. Chanderia police arrested Pappu Jogi and Bengu police arrested Sanjay. The remaining prisoners are yet to be arrested.
