Jaipur: The wait for the Jaipur Metro between Chandpole and Badi Chaupar is going to end soon. The Metro track work has already been completed. The work on the construction of the Metro station is in final phase. The trial between this stretch has been successful. Now the JMRC officials are waiting for a green signal from the Commissioner for Safety. A letter would be written the commissioner by next week.

“The office of the commissioner for Safety RK Sharma will independently inspect the track, signal system, load testing and traction and other technical issues involved in the operation of Metro trains. When everything is found to be functioning property, a certificate will be issued,” said a senior JMRC official.

The people have been for the Jaipur Metro trains to be functional on this 2-km-long stretch for the past five years.  

“We believe that we will get the certificate by the end of March. In February, the office of the Commissioner for Safety will inspect the technical operation and then we will fix the issues highlighted in the report. We hope that all the formalities will be completed and the Metro will strt running between Chandpole and Badi Chaupar sometime in April,” said the officer.

The Metro is currently running between Mansarovar and Chandpole. The extension work was inaugurated in October 2013. The work was to be completed by December, 2018, but it got delayed. The JMRC missed the second deadline also which was September 2019.

“The stretch between Chandpole and Badi Chaupar will have two stations. The project cost was about Rs 1130 crore,” said the officer.
