Cancer patients at SMS Hospital suffer due to delay in radiotherapy under Bhamashah Yojna
Private hospitals are providing radiotherapy to the Cancer patients under Bhamashah scheme but the Doctors of SMS hospital are showing negligence regarding it. Patients are waiting in SMS hospital for the surgery which is creating difficulties for a lot of patients and their family members
Jaipur: Cancer patients at SMS Hospital are not getting radiotherapy on time under Bhamashah Yojna (scheme). Patients are waiting for more than one month to get their radiotherapy done due to unavailability of heart valves for the patients.
Rajasthan Government is much concerned about Bhamashah scheme but the execution of scheme seems to be poor.
Enough numbers of heart valves in all sizes are not there for the patients in the hospital. For heart valves, cancer patients have to wait for at least 2 months. Some of the patients didn’t get the valves even after three months and are still waiting for the surgery.
This is happening due to the negligence of an insurence company and the delay in the process by the hospital department.
According to sources, Private hospitals are providing radiotherapy to cancer patients under Bhamashah Scheme but the doctors of SMS hospital are showing negligence regarding it. Patients are waiting in SMS hospitals for the therapy which is creating difficulties for a lot of patients and their family members.
One of the doctor at SMS hospital said that in private hospitals there are no monitoring process for the patients under Bhamashah scheme, but in SMS, as soon as the patient gets admitted, a team from the insurence company comes for the verification and after the approval from the company, the process of surgery begins.
As per the company guidelines, there need to be regular confirmation and approval from the company before the surgery\radiotherapy proceeds.
“This thing of regular approval from the company is not possible in practical terms. So, we are helpless in providing therapy on time”, said Hospital official of SMS.
Several letters and applications requesting for the radiotherapy and heart valves have been written regarding this negligence to the company officials and Hospital officials but there was no response from any of the official and the patients are still suffering.
