Jaipur: Bigg Boss fame Payal was granted bail two days after she was arrested from Ahmedabad for allegedly posting videos with derogatory remarks against the Nehru-Gandhi family on social media. A local court in Bundi granted her bail after hearing arguments from the actress’s lawyers.
According to a police officer, the bail was granted by the court in the afternoon.
“The lower court had rejected her anticipatory bail application following which she filed the bail application in the court of upper district and session judge. The court heard arguments from the prosecution as well as defence lawyers before the lunchtime and then granted her bail in the afternoon,” the officer said.
Payal was lodged in a Bundi jail since Monday night.
Payal was arrested from Ahemdabad and brought to Bundi in police custody on Sunday.
Payal had told media persons that she had shot the video on Motilal Nehru on the basis of facts she found through Google search. She had posted the video which allegedly had derogatory remarks against the Gandhi family’s woman on social media on September 21.
An FIR was registered against the actress by one Charmesh, a local Congress leader in Bundi.
The senior police officials said that she was served a notice to appear for an explanation several times, but she kept ignoring the notices.
Payal however said that she had filed an anticipatory bail application on Thursday. The application was to come up for hearing on Monday, but the police arrested her before she could get any legal remedy.
