Jaipur: Regional Transport Office (RTO) carried out raids at automobile showrooms belonging to five different dealers on complaints that they were pressurizing people who had booked BS 3 vehicles to buy BS 4 cars and bikes. There were complaints in the city that people booked BS – III vehicles and paid booking amount, but as auto dealers ran out of stock, they are now running from pillar to post to get their money back. Rather than refunding customers, auto dealers were allegedly asking people to purchase BS 4 vehicles.
RTO officials have seized hundreds of vehicle booking receipts from the offices of five dealers. RTO has launched an investigation.
Jaipur regional transport officer Kalpana Agarwal ordered an investigation amid complaints against auto dealers. She said that they would examine the receipts recovered during the raids. RTO officials will contact the people whose names and addresses were found scribbled on these receipts and ask them if they were delivered vehicles.
The Supreme Court banned sale and registration of BS-3 (BS-III) compliant vehicles from April 1. Automobile dealers ran out of stock in Jaipur on Friday as people queued up at their showrooms to buy BS 3 two- and four-wheelers at a discounted price. Discounts up Rs 20,000 on bikes and Rs 80,000 on cars created frenzy among people.
