Boy commits suicide after family refuses to buy him mobile phone for playing online games

Jaipur: A class 12 student committed suicide after his father didn’t gift him a mobile phone that he wanted for playing addictive online games. The student celebrated his birthday on February 13 and insisted on getting a mobile as a birthday gift. According to preliminary investigation, the teenager was depressed and ended his life. Further investigation is going on.
The boy, Aditya Kumar was a resident of Sitaram Colony in Sodala police station area. ‘s birthday was celebrated on 13 February. He had asked for a mobile from his father as a gift. When the parents did not get the mobile, he started to remain silent and committed suicide by making a noose of his mother’s sari on Wednesday night. However, the police have not found any suicide note yet.
As per the family members, the light in Aditya’s room was on even after midnight on Thursday. The father, Vijay Singh, found the room bolted from inside. He peeked into the room through a window and was shocked to find the boy hanging. With the help of relatives, he broke open the door and rushed Aditya to SMS Hospital where doctors declared him brought dead.
The police handed over the body to family members after a post-mortem examination. They didn’t recover any suicide note. A police office told media persons that Vijay used to play online games. He wanted his own mobile phone for his birthday, but when his father didn’t get him one, he got depressed. Prima-facie, Aditya might have taken the extreme step over this. He used his mother’s sari to hang himself from the ceiling fan.
