Body of Anandpal Singh handed over to family members; police heave a sigh of relief
Jaipur: The body of Aanndpal Singh was handed over to his family members on Saturday, nearly a week after he was killed in a police encounter in Malasar village of Churu district.
Anandpal’s daughter accompanied by her maternal uncle accepted the body. Heavy police force has been deployed in Aanndpal’s native village Sanwrda in Nagaur district. Police were keeping an eye on law and order situation.
A court had ordered for a fresh postmortem examination on Friday after the family members filed a plea demanding that autopsy be conducted at AIIMS Hospital. The court asked the police to conduct the postmortem at an A-Grade Hospital in compliance with the guidelines of the Supreme Court. It was performed again following which the family members took the body on Saturday. The body had decomposed to a great extent.
The administration has already suspended internet services in several areas of Nagaur and Churu districts to prevent the spread of rumours on social media.
The family members said that there demand for a CBI probe was yet to be met and the agitation would continue.
KP Singh, the lawyer of Anandpal’s family, alleged that the gangster was killed in a fake encounter because he could compromise the position of at least four cabinet minister of Vasundhara Raje government.
“He held many secrets and fate of some ministers in his hand. Not surprisingly, they were feeling threatened, so they got him killed in a fake encounter. I have evidence to this effect and will produce them in a court when the time is right,” KP Singh told media persons.
He refused to name the ministers. He said that there was threat on his life also.
“I have been getting life threats for representing Anandpal Singh,” said Singh.
Prohibitory orders, banning gathering of people, have been imposed in Didwana, Ladanu and many other areas of Nagaur district.
