BJP MP from Alwar Mahant Chandnath passes away in Delhi hospital
Mahant Chandnath was not keeping well for the past several months.

Jaipur: Mahant Chandnath, BJP MP from Alwar parliamentary constituency, passed away on Sunday morning while undergoing treatment at a hospital in Delhi. He was 61-year-old.
This is the second untimely death of a BJP MP in the past two months. Earlier BJP MP from Ajmer Sanwar Lal Jat had died of cardiac arrest.
Sources said that Chandnath was not keeping well for the pasts several days.
Chandnath was elected MP in in the 2014 parliamentary elections, after defeating the incumbent Congress candidate and former union minister Jitendra Singh.
He has been in some controversies since winning the election. He was convicted in a land fraud case earlier this year and was sentenced to one year imprisonment.
His alleged conversation with Baba Ramdev discussing black money was caught on camera. The controversy had hogged national headlines. The video footage showed Chandnath complaining to Baba Ramdev about the difficulty in bringing cash into the constituency and also that his money was seized by police.
Prime minister Narendra Modi expressed grief over the incident. A tweet from his official twitter handle reads: “Saddened by the demise of LS MP from Alwar, Mahant Chand Nath ji. He will be remembered for his rich social work. My deepest condolences: PM”.

Amit Shah also expressed condolences. He tweeted: “Sad to know about the passing away of BJP MP from Alwar, Mahant Chandnath ji. My condolences to his followers. Om Shanti Shanti Shanti.”
